AI Motion Transfer Video

Your Character, Performing Any Clip's Motion

Generate your character performing the motion of a reference clip.

Motion Transfer

Describing a precise movement in a prompt is hard: a dance, a celebration or a signature walk has timing that words do not capture. Often the motion already exists in a clip, just not with your character in it.

Motion Transfer on Layer uses that clip as the reference. Add the video whose motion you want and an image of your character, and Layer generates the character performing the same movement.

01

Key capabilities

  • Motion From a Reference Clip

The movement and its timing come from a video you choose, rather than from a prompt alone.

  • Your Character Performs It

Provide a character image and the generated video shows that character performing the reference motion.

  • Prompt-Guided Scene

Describe the setting, and the scene around the character follows it.

  • Part of the Video Toolkit

Sits alongside video generation, Image to Video and Lip Sync, so a character clip can be made and finished in one place.

02

How it works

  1. Choose the motion

Upload a reference clip or choose one from your workspace.

  2. Add your character

Provide an image of the character who should perform it, and describe the scene.

  3. Generate and review

The new clip returns to your workspace, ready to review.

03

Questions about Motion Transfer

What does Motion Transfer do?+

It takes the movement from a reference clip and generates a new video of your character performing that same motion.

What do I need to provide?+

A video whose motion you want to reuse and an image of the character who should perform it. A prompt describing the scene guides the setting.

How is this different from video generation?+

Video generation invents the motion from a prompt. Motion Transfer follows the motion of a clip you choose, so the timing and movement match it.

Can I use clips generated in Layer?+

Yes. Clips and character images made in Layer can be used in the same workspace, alongside files you upload.
